I paint and keep much to myself in Houston, Texas. After twenty years of warehouse studios, I have been enjoying the quiet and solace the last fifteen years in my own independent place....just my dog Ollie and me most of the time.
I used to teach; work various jobs; sit on art non-profit boards; now....I read, garden, paint, spend time with family....and think.

steveartist says:
"When I first discovered Gail's work, I wrote to her that I thought that she was, "one of the gods of art." That is even more true today. What can I say that doesn't seem to be a cliche? She is a force of the nature of art, for certain. Her energy, creativity and accomplishments are beyond recording. She has inspired me like almost no other artist has in the past twenty years. That's saying something, because I look at a lot of art. Gail, I wish you long life, great health and that you can still be making wonderful images when you are a hundred and ten."

"Im sure that for Gail, art is not something she does only with a brush in her hand, her work is sometimes about a decision, a conflict, a dilemma, a moment of joy, but always she successfully converts it into a painting. She is letting us in on the way she experiences the world. Her paintings are unpretentious.. yet teach us, make us contemplate, (we get to interpret them for ourselves, but still someone else can find something that I never would have found,) thats special and worth watching, and I so enjoy all the time Ive spent examining all the little treasures buried in her paintings. So this is gratitude to her,..... and also to the many interesting commenter s that follow what she does and enlighten me. Thankyou!"

william schaff says:
"Not often (or not often enough, maybe) I come across someone's work that impresses me. Siptakg's work does that. From the consistency of visual direction, to the quality of the medium...this is work we should immerse ourselves in and take stock in. Work that we should keep around ourselves to help us remember how to walk forward in this world we live.
Thank you for alerting me to it, siptakg, and thank you -- even more so -- for creating it and sharing it with us all."24th June, 2008

NCMallory says:
"Now and then ( but never often enough) I stumble upon a Real Artist, one who deserves those two capital letters.
G.S. is so much the genuine article , one feels the ripples of conjuring power nearly throbbing from her best images. And what is the explanation for this? A broad range of techniques-- folk-wisdom paint and ink that is anything but folksy and instead worldly wise? Prospero-like rough magic? A great sense of scale and full diapason of symbols, allegories and psychological simulacra? And many more tricks up her sleeve than those?
Not just all of that. Not just.
But this, too:
these paintings, drawings, prints and installations cannot be looked away from, once seen, because of their strong visual summoning. Their incantations are so strong that the artist's technique melts away and the channel between observer and observed is clear.
Look, these images say-- look while you still can, and be thereby changed.
So I look, and learn.
