  "Im sure that for Gail, art is not something she does only with a brush in her hand, her work is sometimes about a decision, a conflict, a dilemma, a moment of joy, but always she successfully converts it into a painting. She is letting us in on the way she experiences the world.   G.S. is so much the genuine article , one feels the ripples of conjuring power nearly throbbing from her best images. And what is the explanation for this? A broad range of techniques-- folk-wisdom paint and ink that is anything but folksy and instead worldly wise? Prospero-like rough magic? A great sense of scale and full diapason of symbols, allegories and psychological simulacra? And many more tricks up her sleeve than those?
