I've been in love with photography ever since receiving an old ЭMЮG medium format camera, an old relic of the Soviet Russian era, on my 10th birthday.

It was a junky plastic camera with a plastic lens, but it was mine and that's all I cared about. Over the next few years I photographed everything with it, including landscapes, cars, trains, people, communist soldiers, old buildings, castles, my grandparents, life and death of friends and family, and some things I probably shouldn't have photographed.

Most of those photos were lost one by one over the years after my family relocated from my ancestral birthplace in the Transylvanian region of Romania to an immigrant camp in Rome, and an eventual settlement in Los Angeles, California.

I'm self-trained through reading every photography book and magazine I could get his hands on, and started out by falling in love with the works of famous photographers like Sebastiao Salgado, James Natchway, Galen Rowell, Brassai, and Edward Weston.

Most of the photos in my portfolio are available for sale either as stock or as prints through my page at www.sipaphoto.com. For stock or special licensing, contract or commission work, please contact me privately via email at marius@sipaphoto.com.
