I took photography classes in high school, but dropped the obsession once I went to college. I've picked it up again recently, since I've moved back to Philadelphia and fallen back in love with the city.

I think every person has some sort of spatial narrative in their lives, and mine was always the lure of the city; I grew up outside Philadelphia and swore to myself that one day I would move in. Here I am, now, and it's a little staggering to think of this as the resolution to something started when I was a tiny tot. I think the photographs end up being a way of managing that.

Personally speaking, I am a teacher and a grad student. I am nearly always stressed. I find all of it more entertaining than I care to let on. I'm fairly banal, but occasionally I use words like "banal." I like public transit and going to movies by myself. I dislike advertising and people who spit in the street near my shoes. I am a firm believer in reading while walking and being outside whenever I can.
