I am 55, married for 31 years to my husband, Bob. We have two wonderful children--our son, Eric, is 25 and our daughter , Mairead, is 20. I'm happy to say that Eric is engaged to Tammy---their wedding most likely is going to be in August, 2009.
Mairead is also on flickr, so please check her photos out.
We live in a small Lake Michigan beach town, and it is a gorgeous place to live. I am a college counselor--director of a program that provides supportive services for students including accommodations for disabilities.
We have several cats--they wax and wane from five to three and back again to five depending on how often Pepper and Daisy come to visit.
I became interested in photography in the spring of 2006. Since then, I feel like I've learned a lot--not only about technique and process; but, also about expressing my creativity through photography. Most importantly, I am definitely having fun with it.
What else?
I like to read and collect books--mostly old, inexpensive hardbacks. Along with that interest, I love genealogy and am very interested in photographing those things that deal with that theme. I am very interested in documenting the grave sites and stones of my family and of a Potter's Field near my home. Anyone interested in genealogy can view my contributions to that effort at

Ban Handguns Now
There are about 65 million handguns in the United States. Handguns make up 34 percent of all types of firearms.
Of all firearm-related crime, 86 percent involved handguns.
Only one in six Americans own handguns.
Unlike manufacturers of other consumer products, the industry that makes handguns is unregulated for health and safety .
Since 1962, more than one million Americans have died in firearm homicides, suicides, and unintentional shootings. Handguns were used in more than 650,000 of these fatal shootings.
In 1997—the most recent year available—there were 89 firearm deaths per day, or a firearm death every 16 minutes.
Finally, some day very soon I hope that we are all living on a more peaceful planet. Some of my quotations and collected prayers about peace can be viewed at Waging Peace

They waged the wars
ain't they got no shame?"
