My first SLR experiance was around 12 years old learning how to focus my Mum's old Olympus OM-1, and my Uncle teaching me the basics of Depth of Field and the Rule of Thirds.

I really got into photography when I was about 14 at school. We had an activities week, and amongst the options was photography. We were shown how to process, develop and expose film as well as how to actually use a camera and compose your shots.

I then did A-level Photography and also Digital Imaging at college, and had my first experience of D-SLR. Here I learnt about techniques, effects, lighting, etc.

After a lapse of about 3 years of higher education, during which I barely touched a camera, I then went to work for Bluhalo looking after their IT. Whenever the opportunity has come up for any photography work to be done I have thrown myself at the task.

I got shot of the Olympus and purchased my first D-SLR, Canon 400d, and then shortly after upgraded by way of luck to a 450d.

Recently I've been really trying to get into portrait work, and with a little help from Jocelyn I'm getting there. I'm now after any opportunity to take pictures of people, especially if I can set my studio up around them first!

I hate Macro, Flowers
I'm ok with Still Life, Landscape, Architecture
I LOVE Portrait, Family, Wedding, Anything with a bit of human interaction!

I'm a big fan of manual lenses. I've got various "old fit" to EOS adapters such as M-42 and T2 so I can use old Pentacon lenses etc. I find the build quality much better on the old lenses which have lasted, and theres also something satisfying about going entirely manual!
