Sierralara's photostream  

Hello and welcome to my Flickr (Sierralara) page!!! I Grew up in the San Diego (California) area and love the outdoors. Many years ago (as a child), I began hiking nearby mountains and took snapshots to remember the great things I had seen during those trips.

Like alot of photographers, I was becoming more and more disappointed with the end result of the "Snapshots" I was taking and how what I was experiencing was not being adequately transferred over in my photographs.

My eyes were truly opened one May (1999) when I, and two other friends, went to climb Mount Whitney in a day. It was my first visit to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I thought the terrain and surrounding wilderness was so beautiful.

The below photograph was taken by my friend (Jaime) of me at the summit of Trail Crest. It was my big "Sierra eye-opener". A large storm was rolling in and the view of the Great Western Divide was forever etched in my mind.

Since that time, I have discovered many places in the western United States that are just magnificent and exhilarating places to experience and explore. However, my favorite place to visit has always remained the majestic "Range of Light"---The Sierra Nevada Mountains in central California.

My photography is getting better, but I doubt it will ever be as great as to truly interpret the actual places I have visited or will visit in the future. I hope you enjoy my photographs and if you get a chance, slide over to Sierralara.com and check them out at a much higher resolution.
