Founded in 2009 during a ride by two avid cyclists, Shutt Velo Rapide’s mission is simple; to create their own brand of well designed, high quality cycling garments in performance fabrics that do not cost a fortune.

Shutt Velo Rapide endeavours to source all of its materials from British manufacturers to create the very best in British-made cycling clothing.

Using traditional cycling jerseys as its inspiration, Shutt Velo Rapide has created a mixture of cycling wear from sporty to casual, feature rich and designed in complementary colours.

Because everyone at Shutt VR rides we understand what it’s like to be out on the road. Whether in an urban or country landscape, we know that the hours spent on the bike have to be as comfortable as possible – it helps if you look good too.

In our eyes the majority of cycle wear available on the market today is too gaudy, swathed in logos, synthetic or mass manufactured in some far flung country. They’re often an unusual mixture of primary colours that clash with rest of your kit or even your bike. For women the choice is even smaller, typically flowery jerseys and shorts that look like padded hot pants – it’s not what we think most women cyclists want…

It was from thoughts like these, during the many hours spent riding in the Yorkshire Dales, that Shutt Velo Rapide was born.

Being an impetuous bunch we got to work right away. We sourced a fabric from a British manufacturer, found a garment maker in Yorkshire and engaged the hands of an experienced sportswear designer. So here we are, a year and a bit down the road with a range that we think fits the needs of all cyclists, young, old, male or female, the average rider, sportive racer or out and out professional.

By sourcing our materials in the UK and manufacturing locally we have the privilege of being personally involved in every aspect of production. This means that you, the customer, get a great quality truly affordable handmade product. And of course we’re justifiably proud to support local British industry.

Just one last thing about the team at Shutt VR. Like most companies we are a mixed bag of thin, small, tall and maybe just a little tubby (mentioning no names Peter) so we know that most people do not fit the mould of a competition cyclist. This is why we designed our garments to fit the normal everyday rider – racing cut but not too tight, comfortable but still fitted.
