When I was young- I used to shun photographs. Every photo I ever took my tongue was out or I was flipping the bird. I just hated having my photo taken because my dad was such an avid photographer.

I grew up pretty normal but privileged. I was raised in a mid-western town with no crime and few problems. My family was one of the many who fled the cities for the suburbs. Ditched the mass-transit for the mini-van.

My summers consisted of playing in the woods, playing baseball, playing flashlight tag, visiting local amusement parks, and riding bikes.

Now that is slowly disappearing. My memory is not the best - like most people and the places I remember are torn down or different.

The woods where I spent my youth are all condos and McMansions.

Geauga Lake Amusement Park where I spent many a summers night has been destroyed.

I can go on and on about all the changes. But you can't stop
life and you can't stop progress. So, I take a lot of photos now. More than ever.

One single photo can ignite a chain reaction of memories and feelings. That's why I love photography.
