I have always loved photos; taking them and simply just looking at them over and over again. To me photographs are story tellers. They show the good times, and sometimes the not so good times, as we travel through life. From birth to birthdays, graduations to weddings, trips that we take, babies “firsts,” and just our every day moments captured to remind us, and our loved ones, how we lived.

About 10 years ago, for Christmas, I got my first Canon Rebel EOS 35mm film camera. That’s when I really fell in love. I went through so many rolls of film that it was getting hard to keep up with the printing of them. So, as the digital age continued to grow, my Canon Powershot upgraded to a Canon Rebel XTi; again for Christmas (thank you mom and dad :)). To learn more about my new camera, I started taking classes and reading from experts who had once been in my shoes. I have learned so much, and I continue to learn tips and tricks every day. In photography, you never stop learning. There are a lot of new programs out there to manipulate photos, but I’m a firm believer that it’s the basics, a good “eye” and a strong drive, that create those great photographs and a great photographer. So, don’t just rely on your high-tech camera; practice, practice, practice.

Today, I am as in love with photos as I have always been and so, along with the love and support from my best friend and husband, Adam, we have begun what I hope to be a new career path. In the past year, we have focused on wedding photography and child/family portraiture, and have had a blast. Although Adam’s first love is racing and has found that he has an incredible drawing talent, he also has a great eye for photography and so we hope to grow this business together and work as a team. We have also had the love and support of our families and my mom has proved to be a valuable second camera (photography is a love we share that stems from her father, my Grandpa, John Russell). Thank you mom for sharing your talents!

My Flickr page is meant to not only be a showcase of my work, but also to get feedback from all you photographers out there who can help me continue to learn and grow as well. Please feel free to share any comments!

Hope you enjoy my pics!! :)
