So about six months ago I wrote, "And I figure that in about six months, I'm going to be a really, really good catch. Stable... mature... employed... grown kids... great cook... does all his own housework... and knows how to keep the love and excitement alive in a long-term committed relationship.

"It's a strange place to find myself at this stage of my life. I haven't been single since March 15, 1973."

Clearly I'm not single any more. My new partner, friend, girlfriend, lover, continues to surprise and delight me. She has experienced a loss similar in scope and depth to my own. In fact, that was when my heart first opened up to her, the very first day we met, when she insisted that I not leave Kim out of my conversation, my stories, my thoughts, because she too had lost a love.

And we are finding that this bond, this understanding, this compassion is a powerful and poignant addition to our relationship. We're still new, but it's intense and deep, funny and romantic, and incredibly passionate. What a shock, what a surprise, what a joy.

So welcome to this photographic odyssey of good times and bad, of fun and heartbreak. All I ask is that you let the people you love know that you love them. Don't put it off till tomorrow, because the only thing in life that is certain is that one day either you or they will not have that tomorrow. We never know when it is, or how it will come, but if we're very lucky, we know who will be there for us, or who we'll be there for. Let 'em know.

    Daren Luvswrinkles says:

"Scott's candor, good-natured wit, and charming way with words, turn a casual observer into a fan, and then friend, in very short order.

People like Scott, all too rare, provide Flickr, and indeed the world, a welcome oasis of smiles, imagination, and fruitful introspection.

    Kudos!"

"First time I've written a testimonial. Love and admire the life he leads with his family. I am especially fascinated with the way he uses words, and his sense of humor. Amazing!"

    AlmostAwake says:

"You've got to admire anyone as passionately devoted to Alfa Romeos as Scott is. The care and attention that those noble but temperamental cars demand shows in his photographs--everything in his pictures is exactly where and how it should be. He's got a good eye for just about everything."

"Scott Fisher inspires me to be myself. He's real and he's honest. He tells it like it is and I trust him.

How many people can you say that about in life?"
