I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1954, a son of Italian and Portuguese immigrants. I had a happy childhood despite the financial difficulties faced by my parents, together with my three others brothers. Since I was a child I have been a great observer and photography has been my greatest passion; I liked the way that images were registered.

I was delighted with the photographs of the little garden of our modest home that my father, once, took in black and white. I remember when my father brought home the photos he took and the happiness I felt when I saw the images (see samples below). I’ll have recorded those memories forever with me.

A BOY
MARTHINHA E SERGIO
I have always been a shy and sensitive person and had, besides photography, another passion, nature. As an adult I still have these passions with me.

When I was 24 I graduated in engineering, perhaps attracted by the curiosity to know how things work.

When I was 26 I married to a wonderful woman who gave me two children, two beautiful boys. When they were still babies, I bought a small country house, where I raised them in contact with nature, feeling the trees, the perfume of flowers and the song of birds. At this time I recorded all those phases of our lives through my photos, which today help me to remember those good times, when my memory does not help me anymore. There, I had the pleasure to record the first steps, in a photograph, of my youngest son. The happiness that I felt was unimaginable.

Unfortunately we do not have the country house anymore. We loved it so much and it gave us so many joys. Meanwhile I have with me the register of all images that have made us so happy.

Today I'm 57 and I work with petrochemical plants projects, believe it or not! It seems to be a paradox but all my energy is dedicated to design equipments for pollution control, in order to minimize the influence of those industries in the global warming.
Nowadays I walk in the streets, parks, fields and towns to feel a bit of the world that surrounds us and the pulsating life that exists in our planet.

Recently I took a course of photography and my teacher told me that the photographers are the painters of light and the poets of color. I try to be a little bit of both.

I do not intend to be a great photographer; I just want to show people how the world is beautiful and is worth living.
I love sharing my photos with my friends and, for sure, it helps me a lot to communicate with the world.
