"In contrast to the cynicism of culture that we so often see in Gen X, Gen Yers use culture to gain knowledge, and part of my rationale in my thesis is that we can teach other generations to use culture to learn. Yes, film can be a useful tool for learning theology. It can be a sacred experience.

And those events that define us as a generation--those 'do you remember where you were' moments--they contribute to our perspectives on life and the future. We may have been kids for the Challenger Explosion, for the fall of the Berlin Wall, for the spread of the AIDS epidemic, for Columbine, even for 9/11, but those events will shape the way our generation thinks and plans for the future, and even more so, the way we think about theology in this world as a valid and useful mode of thought.

And, damnit, I'm gonna write a book about it all. While listening to emo music."
