Polaroid Faq
I get the following questions a lot so here are some answers. Hope they help.

Q: How do you get such vivid colors from Polaroid?
A: I take pictures of really colorful things with plenty of light. It's really just that simple. If you are taking pictures of people in a bar with a flash, you aren't going to get vivid colors. I use window light and very often simple florescent lights to light my shots. See some set-ups here.

Q: How do you get such crisp shots?
A: Proper focus, a steady camera or tripod, good lighting and a decent scanner.

Q: How do you get so close?
A: The SX-70 can get as close as 10 inches and even closer with the close-up lens (part of the accessory kit), which I use often.

Q: Is the SX-70 camera hard to use?
It really depends on what you mean by hard and what results you expect to get. It's not a digital camera so there is no fixing the photo after the fact. However, it does have auto exposure and most of the time, it's pretty accurate. You may have to adjust the exposure wheel a bit and take another photo if the picture is too light or too dark. Like any camera, digital or film, the more you know about lighting, composition and exposure, the better your pictures will be. But I sometimes go through an entire pack to get the shot right. Don't expect perfection on your first try.

Q: What kind of film do you use?
A: I used Time Zero until it was discontinued. Now I use 600 film. You can't just use 600 film in an SX-70 without modification. Here are some resources to learn how to use 600 or 779 with your SX-70 camera.
