To see, it is not necessary to know anything, except how to see.... Wols

Hello everyone. I started painting as a hobby about 9 years ago and I finally thought I should start showing it off. I'm 44 and I live in Lambton Shores, Ontario Canada

I am inspired by other artists, photographs, movies, the world around me - anything that visually sparks my creativity. I build from simple things - a piece of paper, a brush - but challenge myself to explore textures, colour and techniques. My pieces are contemporary, yet have a familiar, retro feeling. I find faces and expressions fascinating, and prefer painting people to landscapes and still-life. I imagine a piece in my mind, often seeing it complete, and the characters emerge as if I know them. I hope that others appreciate my work, maybe even laugh out loud as they recognize somebody they know in my characters.
