Hello there folks- thanks for visiting!

I am a musician by trade ( I play Clarinet with the Grand Rapids Symphony and also teach at Hope College in Holland, MIchigan) but have fallen in love with photography. I shoot both film and digital and like them both.

I started out on digital, had a brief stint with film, went back to digital, and now I am back to film, mainly shooting medium format. I have found that film suits my style more. There are many areas in which film still exceeds digital. Yes, digital is sharper in general, but sharpness isn't everything!

Current Equipment:
Hasselblad 500c/m
Canon 20d
Canon EOS rebel (film)
Canon Powershot A620
Olympus Stylus Epic (oh yeah)

Glass:

Sonnar 150mm CT*

Right now I have my photos scanned at a local lab- they use a machine made by Durst which is very excellent. You should send some business their way ( $6 to develop and scan a roll of c-41 120 film !)- www.alliedphoto.com
I also own and use a Canon 8600f scanner but it is not so good.....

"I love how schekman's photos are always so well framed and sharp. Most of his shots seem like sets because of the way everything is almost frozen and still."
