  Il lavoro di Andrea Francesco Berni è un mirabile gioco di prestigio cui piace stravolgere con lieve ironia il senso della realtà. Entra di peso nell’elaborazione dell’immagine, la post-produzione digitale, che spesse volte contribuisce in maniera determinante ad arricchire in senso espressivo la rappresentazione.
  Il suo occhio e il suo cuore oscillano fra il racconto e la simulazione, fra la presa diretta del ritratto e la costruzione registica di situazioni sulla soglia fra il reale e la trasposizione onirica.
  A volte il suo obiettivo si volge a uno zoom ravvicinatissimo che inchioda le espressioni facciali nello scatto, le fa giganteggiare nei margini dell’immagine. Altre volte, invece, costruisce una finzione narrativa attraverso lo scatto, o la serie di scatti, spesso usando se stesso come soggetto (e oggetto) e la propria abitazione (o comunque uno spazio chiuso) come luogo della messinscena. In questo scenario può avvenire di tutto: vedere Andrea Francesco che si duplica in pose e atteggiamenti affastellati l’uno sull’altro, oppure improvvisi cambi d’orizzonte che creano un momentaneo spaesamento. Memorabile, in tal senso, un autoritratto capovolto dentro una scatola architettonica dalla tappezzeria vegetale: un semplice soffitto, ma che Andrea Francesco ha saputo sfruttare per ottenere un luogo esotico e irreale. La dimensione ludica, in equilibrio instabile sul filo del rasoio, è una costante di questa fase del suo lavoro.
  Certamene a questo giova non poco una gamma cromatica vivida, smaltata, di tono saturo e brillante. In questa tavolozza visiva, poi, Andrea Francesco costruisce le sue immagini con gusto dialettico per gli spazi pieni e gli spazi vuoti, come in un bel ritratto dell’amico Federico erra incorniciato, in maniera meta-fotografica, da una cornice di legno blu: Andrea Francesco sa che la rappresentazione deve avere uno e un solo protagonista, pochi accessori, e che attorno a questi debba regnare un eloquente silenzio. È proprio in quell’intervallo, in quelle pause, che si annida l’equilibrio visivo di questi sogni (mai incubi) della fantasia fatti fotografia."

  Andrea Francesco Berni, alias il mio geme, è una persona che definire speciale sarebbe sicuramente troppo riduttivo... Affabile, accogliente, gentile.. un vero fratello ( gemello ). Inizialmente l'ho "conosciuto" solo a livello fotografico, poichè ero rimasto affascinato ( e lo sono ancora adesso sempre di più ) dai suoi ritratti, dal suo stream pieno di gente, di amici, di gioie, di emozioni e di ricordi e di voglia e abilità di fare e di migliorarsi ogni volta di più.
  Sempre in attività come una formica operaia, ricordo ancora le sue dita che scorrevano veloci dalla tastiera per scrivere una delle innumerevoli news, al pianoforte per regalarmi una melodia stupenda..
  Mi rendo conto che sto scrivendo un papiro... però non posso farne a meno, perchè, davvero, conoscerlo e rapportarmi con lui è una grande gioia per me.
  
  Dai geme, che prima o poi avremo la nostra ricompensa ahahah

Non quella di Andrea che dosa il Sé e l’Altro come nessun altro tanto da passare inosservato (all’inizio, da me) tra questi pressanti ego che sborrano a tutto andare in questi stream spermatici che si specchiano tra loro, vanitosi. Perché la foto di Andrea ce la si trova davanti ed è semplice anzi no, ossessiva un po’, annodata ti dirò, sciolta in fisime rococò, umana come un “godrò”, giocosa e dunque a giocare sto: volti fissati più che fissi, luoghi proiettati da dentro, fuori niente, il fuori non c’è (non ne ha bisogno).
  La foto di Andrea fa pensare a un’altra cosa, ma fino a un certo punto, quello estremo della cornice, ché poi di spazio non ce n’è più (il resto, quello che non è dentro è fuori dell’inquadratura: non c’entra,/ non ci entra): fa pensare a linee e punti ma ricavati dalle cose, fa pensare alle curve (gli sfondi damascati, la sua fissa migliore, quella che ci fa dire: è lui, è lui e nessun altro anche quando sono due, anche quando sono quattro tutti insieme, - lui è così, si scinde, si clona, si sdoppia, si stroppia perché sa di poterselo permettere quel doppio, quel triplo, quel troppo), punta al fisico, al metafisico, a un fisico a metà, alla passione che sta dietro uno sguardo, alla sua destra, nelle immediate vicinanze, lì di presso. E quei damascati ricorrenti cosa coprono? i panneggi, le tappezzerie nascondono un gesto? Un’intenzione? Un segmento di provocazione?.
