New Camera Alert I got a Nikon D40 for Christmas. So excited!



The sky was by far the biggest thing in town all day. Four prop planes spewed pixilated letters into a white-on-blue circular high above the city. It was Sunday and on Sundays he chased the shade around the yard. When the weather turned, the opposite would be true. He hoisted his recliner by the plastic slats and repositioned it closer to the old oak. The slam of screen door announced noon. His wife made mention of her always ongoing renovation project as she set pastrami on rye in the August brown grass by his feet. When he retrieved his lunch, all he saw was her retreating back slipping in and out of leafy shadow. She slipped out of her green plastic clogs in the mudroom then patted upstairs, clinging to the wall to avoid squeaks. She set the alarm for three, the time her husband would be thinking beer, then crawled back under the big white comforter. If she placed her head diagonal to the far left corner, blankets bushed up around her knees to block out the mahogany highboy, all she saw was all white. White bedding, white walls, white molding, sheer white drapes. Down beyond those drapes, her husband dropped discarded sandwich crust to plain white china. He looked up to see the jets turn off their exhaust. The ephemeral beer ad slowly drifted west with the sun.

I'm a writer who can't seem to write these day; hence, the flickr addiction.

I love my Canon PowerShot G1, still, old and occasionally clunky as it is (can a digital camera be considered "classic" yet?). Also often attached to my eye: Canon AE-1 (which I grew up being photographed with by my father), Nikon F, Praktica LB 2 and a cheap-ass Polaroid.
