Artist’s Statement

When I create my work, whether it be an encaustic painting or felted sheep or tulle jellyfish, I am most fascinated with the way the material could best express the subject. Each medium I use has its own unique beauty, and I am constantly met with new findings as I work. These new findings become the spring that allows me to create more. It is like give and take. Call and response.
I take something that surrounds me, and in return, give something that I produce. This continuous process between me and my surroundings is what makes me. It is ongoing. It never ends.

I am inspired by the beauty of the ordinary everyday life.

Felting, sewing on vellum, encaustic painting, dipping paper in beeswax, scrunching colored tulle, chinese lanterns, sheep and jellyfish are just a few examples of my current obsessions.
