The purpose of Save the Wild UP is to protect Michigan's Upper Peninsula’s unique way of life, wildlife, landscape, and waters. Through public awareness and education we strive to protect the Upper Peninsula from unsustainable development, degradation and dangerous contamination

Save the Wild UP is a Marquette-based, grassroots nonprofit with deep concerns about the economic, social, and environmental impacts of metallic sulfide mining in Michigan, especially in areas rich with water and wildlife.

We are committed to halting the long lasting or permanent degradation of Michigan’s most valuable resource, our water. We are also committed to fostering economic alternatives to this risky and ultimately costly technology.
