The three-fold mission of the American Institute for Roman Culture is to promote and preserve Rome through cultural heritage projects, educational programming and public outreach.

Cultural Heritage Projects - Through archaeological excavation and conservation projects, the Institute's archaeologists, conservators, art historians and scholars will share their research and findings with the world via scholarly publications and work to preserve Rome's cultural heritage for future generations.

Education Programs - Developing academically rigorous programs in archaeology, architecture, Italian and Classical languages, the Institute will provide university-level learning opportunities in a unique interdisciplinary environment and will engaging students in constructive and critical dialogue designed to promote awareness of the world's at-risk sites, objects and ancient languages.

Public Outreach - By collaborating with American and Italian constituencies, the Institute's public outreach programs will assist local governments, preservation professionals and academic institutions in designing or facilitating projects and programs that increase the public's general awareness of historical preservation issues.
