I'm very much a country girl and enjoy the beautiful out of doors in the Pacific Northwest.. I "shoot" mostly in Northern Idaho, Montana and Washington with occasional visits to Alaska!! :) - My biggest love is wildlife - I'm an avid hunter - all year round - I don't shoot with a 7mm - I "shoot" with Canon gear.. it never disappoints me.. I love getting out and about in the mountains, and along our beautiful lakes, rivers, creeks.. it's amazing the beauty one can find
I have loved photography for as long as I can remember ~ I've always taken "pictures" - but up until several years ago - they were "snapshots" - then I got my first DSLR - and was inspired by 2 friends who had already found their passion with their cameras.
Then I discovered flickr and I've made many friends ~ some will be life long. We as photographers are all like-minded....we beat to the march of a different drummer and only we can understand one another, the passion each and every one of us has.
We will tromp through knee deep snow, lay in wet, tall grasses, withstand all the elements, drive for miles and miles just to get a shot, put our bodies in unnatural and ungainly positions, stand for hours until our backs, legs and shoulders are killing us, just to get that one shot.. whether we get it or not, doesn't matter, we weren't home sitting on the couch!
The talent here at flickr is amazing, such great photographers, wonderful and inspirational to someone like me! As for myself, I don't expect to get the perfect shot, just shots that I like, and every once in a while, I hit the jackpot and get a killer shot!! Photography to me isn't a contest, to see if I can be better than someone else, get better shots than someone else, it's my passion that makes ME happy, and if it makes others happy to view my work, that's the icing on the cake!! I strive to always keep learning and honing my skills, and I've learned much from the friends that I've made here and appreciate this venue to share our work and make new friendships.

"Sandy's images of the fauna of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska are just outstanding! She can get beautiful high resolution images of birds which are the envy of any outdoor photographer. I sometimes think she must have a "cloak of invisibility" which allows her to get as close as she must to get these beautiful images:) She is also a great person and very positive influence on those of us who are learning and hopeful of attaining the excellence she produces routinely."

"I've been thinking of writing a testimonial for Sandy for quite a while now but just didn't get around to it. Sometimes, I'm just scattered in too many different directions.
But one direction you need to go in, one I found myself in long ago, is here, to Sandy's fabulous photo stream. She is one talented photographer, one of flickr's very best. Her images will "Wow" you each and every time you look at them.
She has a truly amazing collection of wild life photos on her site, some of the best I've seen and she has a real knack for capturing animals in ways I don't see anywhere else. But her talents are not limited to wild life alone.
Sandy is also a superb landscape photographer. In fact, she can do it all. Her creativity doesn't seem to have any boundaries because no matter what she posts, it's always a work of art.
If you haven't already, please take some time and look at Sandy's stream. I promise you will not be disappointed and it will be a very enjoyable experience for you, too.
Thanks for being such a great friend Sandy. I cherish you.

"This is an updated testimonial for a great person
that I am really glad to know in this lifetime:
Sandy is one of my very first contact and she is the very first one
to give me an *award* to one of very first picture. You know, It was
a great feeling! I can never forget that day. I felt like I won the oscar
or something! But later on, you realize that it's not the award that
people give you but what do they tell you or how they show their
appreciation!
If she likes your picture she means it and faves the picture just to
show her appreciation. She is like one of those people that will
always true to you. She is very special to me.
I appreciate her existence and every single capture of her world.
She is an amazing nature photographer. If you love nature and
I bet you do, please check her photo sets. I am telling you, you will
not be disappointed.
Long Live Scarlet Images!

She has some awesome experiences, which is a testement to her, because you HAVE to get out there for the experience and the opportunity. She also has a photostream full of absolutely outstanding photographs, because she is absolutely full of talent.

Phil's Pixels says:
"Sandy is the ideal model and representative of what a Flickr friend should be.
Sandy’s passion and love for nature and wildlife radiates strongly and clearly in her incredible images. She is quite adventurous and heads out in any weather to pursue her passion for photography. She has an innate talent for finding wildlife and capturing them in endearing and incredible poses, sharply focused and superbly processed to bring out the best highlights, details and specialness of each subject. Her landscapes are top notch and world class, inspirational and ever impressive. There is a warmth and charm that shines through in every single photograph Sandy produces, an essence and empathy that pays tribute to the wondrous beauty of our world. In addition to her stunning images, her titles and descriptions are humorous, insightful, witty, thought provoking and richly enhance the visual experience. I look forward each day to Sandy’s next post, knowing smiles, laughs or wows are on the way.
The best recommendation I can suggest to anyone considering adding Sandy as a friend is to simply read the comments and responses to her images from those of us who are already fortunate enough to follow her works. Sandy has a strong sincere connection and commitment to her flickr friends, taking the time to really look at each of our images, seeing what we see, realizing what we are trying to convey. She doesn’t just look at the pixels, but also at our “tale of the take.” She is quick to help, suggest and advise on processing techniques and technical concerns. Sandy is a masterful wordsmith and her valued comments on our images are eloquent, heartwarming and full of encouragement , not just an obligatory “great shot!” That’s why so many of us respond in kind with each and every opportunity we have to thank her for being such a great supportive friend.
Please check out Sandy’s incredible stream. I guarantee you will be impressed and will be glad you did.
I’m fortunate enough to live near Sandy and have spent time hunting eagles and other targets with her. She is very much the sweet, genuine person that she is on flickr. The rest of the local flickr hunters also hold her in high regard and call her Miss Sunshine, as she lights up any group, sharing her joy and positive attitude with any and all. It is people like Sandy that make our flickr experience so enjoyable and special.
Keep up your great works Sandy. Thank-you for being a very special Flickr friend.""20th January, 2011

"Don't let that "country girl" fool you, Sandy is also a lady and she loves to shoot that Canon! I've had the pleasure of shooting with Sandy over the past year and we have had some great times getting out and finding the birds and the wildlife. Sandy doesn't mind getting down on the ground and getting eye level with the critters and she knows how to shoot them. Sandy has a great eye for detail, composition and design - I learn a lot from her. Keep shooting girl, and capturing those great images that you hide in the archives for months before pulling them out. Its been fun."

"I just realized that I've not written anything about Sandy's pictures. I've really screwed up, because her photos are so sensitive and beautiful that many times they defy description other than to say "Wow!" She loves wildlife and life and we're so lucky (especially me) to have her share her pictures with us. Her pictures convey a love of beauty and living things and our world. Can't ask for much more. I'm also so very lucky to have her as a friend."

"Sandy, you are such a testimony of a woman and her strength and love you give to the people in your life.
Your photos have become works of arts. I am thinking time to jump to that SLR. Photography is such an awesome outlet, I understand when you let your creative side put all life problems aside and for a moment you hear that click as the shutter captures something wonderful and you relish how wonderful life can be at that second.
You capture incredible moments and have so many works of art in your portfolio, whether it be an eagle soaring or a beautiful landscape, you've got the eye my friend, truly a gift and you gift us by sharing your super fantastic photography with us.
Well, life is still doing you good. As a woman you are something to admire. Strength, smarts, charm, beauty...not to mention the incredible magic you possess with your camera."15th November, 2008

"Few photographers possess the talent to truly capture what their eyes see and what their heart feels.
Sandy has an uncanny ability to capture not only incredible, breath-taking images ... but she has the ability to capture and share an image straight from her heart and soul. That is a gift, my friends - her images are a reflection of who she is inside.
Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I continue to be amazed at the incredible passion and attention to detail that Sandy gives to her photography. Plain and simple ... she's an artist.
Sandy, you inspire me with your wildlife images and your motivation to get up at dark-30 when Jay gives you that phone call - LOL.
I am so honored to call you a dear Flickr friend."18th August, 2008

FatboyzPics says:
"I've known Sandy for quite some time now and watching her evolve from a point and shoot to a downright pro photographer. She has a gift, a talent, she's got the eye! She's told me time and time again that "everything's a picture" - and she makes a work of art out of the visions she sees through her lens.
She's not afraid to get out in the trenches so to speak with her camera - she's faced wild animals, moose, elk, deer - out in the wilds, she has a healthy respect for the wildlife and she knows the limits she can go to get that perfect shot. She's gone out in snow up to her butt, and in the freezing temperatures for hours on end to shoot the eagles when they're here in the winters. She's come home with mud up to her knees, with her shoelaces frozen, her nose running, or sunburned from hiking around in the summers. (She'll jump in any body of water to cool off in the summers) Sandy is a one of a kind lady to be sure. She's a blast to hang out with and fun to be competitive with. But she always gets the best shots!
She's gifted so many people with her art, with her love of photography. She's blessed with this gift and she shares it so freely with her friends.
Sandy is one of the sweetest, down to earth ladies I've ever met, she's so helpful and encouraging, she always takes the time to help me out and share with me her knowledge of these danged cameras.
I remember seeing a really cool old barn last summer and wanted to get some pictures of it.. then she made the comment - gee it's too bad it has that brand new green metal roof on it! Aha! That roof ruined the OLD look of that barn although she showed me how to shoot at different angles so it still looked cool.
You go girl! You are a gifted and talented, beautiful lady!"3rd March, 2008
