i'm finishing up a PhD dissertation which deals with the private and public urban spaces, walking, and memory in the novels of paul auster, iain sinclair, and peter kurzeck. i'm interested in transgressive and subversive uses of city space (parkour/freerunning, urban exploration, skateboarding). fayetteville, where i live right now, has turned out to be surprisingly conducive to that kind of research. it's also good for making friends and being part of a creative community, which has been quite inspiring.
