oh Hell no *laughing*

i hate these profile things. i hate having to remember to hit the shift key when i type 'i'. i love adding ellipsis' to practically everything i write...
i laugh - often, loudly, and none too rarely, inappropriately (much to my father's dismay). mostly, tho', i laugh at myself, as i have ample opportunity for it... (feel free to laugh, too)

i have a Nikon D80 (still infatuated with it. not yet to the i-love-you-but-sometimes-you're-so-annoying stage). each day i add to my list of 'features on my nikon that i've no clue how to use'. the camera goes with me always, so hopefully i'll eventually pare the list down to under 100 items. that said, i've always known that it is the photographer, not the camera, that makes the picture. while my camera skills need work, it's my photography skills themselves that are my focus. wide open for improvement, i figure that ought to keep me busy for.. i dunno.. the rest of my life..?
i live in the northern (pronounced 'best') half of california. specifically, i live in the san francisco bay area. as far as photography goes, it's perfect. first there's the fact that my options for subject matter are diverse and virtually limitless. even better than that is the number of skilled and adept photographers who hail from around here. it's one thing to look at a beautiful shot of a marketplace in japan and wishing i could be that good. it's another thing entirely to be able to see a stunning shot of fisherman's wharf in san francisco and then go there and try to recreate it for myself.. not to copy, but to figure out what made it a great shot.. try to gain some insight to the vision..
