I started taking photography seriously in 1974 when I hit my teen years and soon discovered the likes of Ansel Adams, Eugene Atget, Paul Strand, Bill Brandt and other "classic" photographers who became my reference points.

My photography is an eclectic and unpredictable mix of mono and colour, landscape and portrait, film and digital. I am a massive film fan and, even now as 2012 beckons, I have yet to see a digital print that displays the subtleties and tonality of a chemical print.

Digital photography is fantastic, of course, but I see it as different to film rather than a replacement for it and I will never understand why a photographer would want to limit their creative options to one medium at the expense of another.

Although I'd hate to be predictable, I also crave my own instantly recognisable style. Why? Whilst it's not universally true, you can often guess correctly which photo was taken by which photographer, even when the subject matter is varied. For me, that is the mark of a great photographer - whether or not I like what they produce.

Incidentally, please DO NOT leave awards or invitations to add photos to groups. Also, if you have no photos available to me, please DO NOT save mine as favourites or add mine to your galleries.
