I was 12 when I got my first camera, a Kodak 126 instamatic with MagiCube flash, which I won in a contest. I took pictures with this one and with my dad's Yashica Minister 35mm Rangefinder camera I could use now and then. Some time later on my dad bought a Yashica TL Electro X. Naturally I tried this one as well.
When I was 16 I saved enough to buy a Canon A-1 (with a standard 50mm/1.8), a marvellous camera. From then on I could experiment further. I studied to get good portraits, my favorite subject at that time. Later I became interested in photographing architecture. Another interest was pop photography. Went to a lot of concerts, and I became the band photographer of November and For Absent Friends (FAF), two Dutch sympho rockbands. I still do photo work for the cd inlays of FAF albums. During this period I bought a Canon T90 (another great camera: Canon's unique "bio-form," which is now widely recognized, was created in the design work for the T90) and later also a Canon F-1n; the T90 for colour and the F-1n for B&W.

A couple of years ago I decided I had to try digital photography. Just to see if this is something worth working with. I bought a Canon Powershot S50, just to use next to my analog Canons. However I still am partial to film, I am very much into digital photography now.
