What’s around the corner...?

Before I could even walk I was an explorer. There's the old family story of my mother out on the balcony reading a book when she happened to look up and see me -- diaper and all -- crawling down the street to the corner. Instead of napping I had escaped my crib, my room, descended the stairs (second floor!), out the front door and down more steps. Hey, it's a big world and there are things to see! I love visiting new places so travel for me is a necessity.

My early love of architecture in school influenced my later interest in photography, so much of work is of buildings, structures, patterns. Night shooting has long been a favorite, the colder the night the better (j’adore Montreal!) With my recent entry into digital photography I have started to explore environmental portraits. This has built on earlier film work shooting dance and more recent work shooting live music. Yes, I have favorite genres in photography but I will try anything...!

This site has a cross-section of my digital work. My early snapshots plus some better work from ongoing projects. Only one or two previously exhibited pieces are here: yes, I've already had images pirated on the web. (Grrr) A very few samples of my large film collection are presented: while it is doubtful much of that will make it here I still shoot film, and so some of the newer work may make an appearance.

For the technophiles, the work here is shot with a variety of Canons. I’ve worked/work in large and medium format as well, but again these largely sleep in my film archives. One day I may post a 120 image, just for fun...

I hope you enjoy some of my work and please leave a comment or two. Meanwhile, I’m off to see what’s around this next corner...
