From as far back as I can remember until the end of high school, I strongly pursued the "creating" arts such as drawing and painting. As life carried me more into adulthood, I found I had less continuous blocks of time to allow a multi-day composition come to life and to accommodate for cleaning and storage of whatever I was working on.

Before, to me a camera was just good for taking pictures -- a mere visual documentary of events with family and friends. It wasn't until some close friends and my fiancee drew me into photography that I saw it as much more.

Now, instead of my own thoughts shaping my life experience and realm of creativity (as it was before photography), with a camera I can appreciate my surroundings and find pleasure in capturing moments that wil never happen again. I feel more a part of the world around me, and am challenged to see more than just what I see.
