Hello and welcome. Thank you for your interest in my pictures.

I am an engineer by profession and a photography enthusiast. A long time ago I started shooting with Canon SLR film cameras, and converted to exclusively digital with early Kodak and Canon PowerShot cameras, then later, with Nikon DSLRs. These days I use both Leica and Nikon systems.

I have been a member of flickr since the end of 2009. I came here to share and learn. I have seen many great pictures by photographers with amazing creativity and impressive technique. I have learned much, and I hope I am also contributing something interesting back to the community.

One thing I am amused by - I see a lot of people chasing comments. Frankly, I find it a little silly to see so many comments like "Ooh, what a beautiful bokeh", just because there was a point of light out of focus in the background in an image.

I often see some users who post rather ordinary pictures that generate 80-100 comments within a day or two. This seems to me like becoming a member of a laughter track group that moves around together, with the entire group erupting in applause every time somebody opens his or her mouth. This can't be real, and I think people who are addicted to this kind of automatic mutual admiration need a life.

I don't post inane comments just for the sake of quid pro quo. But when I do post a comment, it is because I really appreciate the work, so you know I am being sincere.

Likewise, I invite you to comment on my pictures if you find something interesting, constructive or even critical. I will value your feedback.

If you share my philosophy and use similar equipment, I would be pleased to get to know you so we can compare notes and exchange ideas. I have already made some new friends from Flickr, and I hope to make more friends.
