“Amsterdam born Brian Kersbergen a.k.a. ROYALSTEEZ started out in the world of graffiti in the early 80’s and became a wellknown artist with his tag ‘DREAM’. He got into computer design and photography in the mid 90’s and worked as a freelancer for various agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi, Result DDB and TBWA for international clients like Nike, Daimler Chrysler, Vodafone a.o. In 2006 he picked up the spraycans again for some live-action painting and joined the KMDG crew (kwaste met die gaste). In 2007 he had his first solo-exposition and in that same year he won the Matt Holland design competition with his design ‘ROYAL SLEEZ’. At the end of 2007 he and 5 other creatives formed an artcollective called JEUK. Brian took part of 9 exposition in 2008, played in a view short movies, as an actor and as a host, and got his first grant by the AFK (Amsterdamse Fonds voor Kunsten) in april 2009.
His last work, ‘For the love of Candy’ (a copy of Damien Hirst his ‘For the love of God’ but covered with handmade sweets) was a great succes. After being shown in Amsterdam , Kinsau and Munich it will go to Singapore, Tokyo, Barcalona and New York”. (_spring 2009)
