The RAF Museum exists to educate and inform present and future generations about:

2. Air Power and Defence
3. Aviation links with the Royal Air Force

And to promote the Royal Air Force.

The Collection

The RAF Museum began collecting in 1965 and has since amassed a collection of over 1.2 million objects, around half of which are Archives (documents). The collection is split into six major sets:

1. Aircraft & Exhibits
2. Archives
3. Film & Sound
4. Fine Art
5. Photographs
6. Library
