Founded in 1967, the Royal Opera of Wallonia - Liège is located on the borders between France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Germany. Due to its geographical location and its high level programming, an international and demanding audience are the frequent guests.

Its reputation steadily grows and attracts internationally renowned singers and prestigious conductors: Ruggero Raimondi, Juan Diego Florez, José Cura, Rolando Villazon, James Morris, Jose Van Dam, Patrizia Ciofi, Marianna Cornetti, Simone Alaimo, Daniele Gatti, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Scimone, Paolo Arrivabeni, Alberto Zedda, to name a few.

In its programming, Italy, the birthplace of opéra (Verdi, Puccini, a.o.), occupies a prominent place, but its ambition of discovery also leads the Royal Opera in Liège to the lesser known repertoire of the 18th century with composers such as Cherubini, Cimarosa, Grétry.
