Rotary International was founded in Chicago in 1905; The Memphis Rotary Club, the 96th club to be established, was chartered on February 1, 1914.

The organization is grounded in the principle of fellowship through service.

The Memphis Rotary Club focuses its service efforts in education and youth, but does not limit itself to these areas exclusively.

Through the generous personal giving of the membership, the club/foundation raises over $100,000 a year for the support of its projects.

All Rotarians are expected to engage in hands-on participation in at least one of the club's service projects during each Rotary year.
