I have enjoyed painting and drawing since childhood but I am largely self taught. I paint in order to see the world around me and to see how I feel on the inside. I like to imagine the people who designed the buildings I paint and wonder why they differ so much from each other. I also like to observe the movement and change inherent in trhe natural world. Until 2005 I pursued a career in neuropsychology. My work included, amongst other things, exploring the brain mechanisms used in visual perception, and in memory, including the representation of space in memory. So I have always had an interest in the way we see and remember the world.

My website, which covers my interest in science as well as art, can be found at people.pwf.cam.ac.uk/rmr21/

I have collected the first 100 paintings and a few others in a book, 'Seeing' which can be found under Ros Ridley on Blurb.com - www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/212004

My second book of paintings 'Percepts' can be viewed at www.blurb.com/books/2017366

The contents of the books can be seen in the sets 'Seeing' and 'Percepts'.

Most of my paintings are for sale. £100 - £150 for medium size e.g. 10 x 14 inches.

    Donna Mulholland says:

"What a wonderful and generous artist, Ros Ridley is! Not only do I enjoy her works on flickr, but I have had the good fortune to purchase one. It was a simple process, whereby I made an enquiry to Ros via flickrmail, a price was agreed upon, a money order was sent and I received an extremely well packed/protected watercolor a few weeks later. I couldn't possibly be more thrilled with the watercolor, which is even nicer in reality than it appeared on flickr. I know that I will enjoy it for many years and that it willl inspire my own future artistic endeavours."

"Ros Ridley is the most remarkable realistic painter I have ever seen. Her magnificent works of places all over the globe not only are perfectly executed but make you want to go there to see the beauty she has captured."
