Peace, health and happiness to all in 2011! (Dec. 30, 2010)

My main hobby is taking photographs of anything that sparks my interest. I will take pictures anywhere I go, as almost always have my camera with me. Many times I go out specifically to take photos of places I enjoy visiting. To me, photographs are like a diary, reminding me of occasions, places I've been to, and things I've really enjoyed seeing or doing. I especially love taking photos of my beautiful feline, Lacey who is such a joy.

Gardening is another of my main interests besides photography. My yard has lots of flowering shrubs, trees, flowering perennials and in summer, colourful annuals. One of my main interests is looking at others' photos on Flickr.com. and I will often comment on, favour, and/or put photos I really love in one of my many galleries . I appreciate very much anyone who comments on my own photos as well. It is a great experience and a pleasure to get to know some of you through your comments and your photos on Flickr, and sometimes through private emails too.

I would be lost without my camera and between taking pictures and posting them on Flickr to share, which entails much time spent on the computer, time just flies by, and is never boring! What a hobby!

I am a mother of two, a son and a daughter, both married.
I am retired and live with my partner in Beautiful British Columbia, Canada.

Interesting and meaningful quotes I love:

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this is if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

William Henry Davies

"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web."

"Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it."

I remember a hundred lovely lakes, and recall the fragrant breath of pine and fir and cedar and poplar trees. The trail has strung upon it, as upon a thread of silk, opalescent dawns and saffron sunsets. It has given me blessed release from care and worry and the troubled thinking of our modern day. It has been a return to the primitive and the peaceful. Whenever the pressure of our complex city life thins my blood and benumbs my brain, I seek relief in the trail; and when I hear the coyote wailing to the yellow dawn, my cares fall from me - I am happy. ~Hamlin Garland, McClure's, February 1899
