I'm glad to now have a few years as an amateur digital photographer, following a 20+ year hiatus from amateur 35mm film photography.

I would really like to learn to take much better bird and wildlife photographs - I really admire the tack sharp bird images that many of my contacts are able to produce.

I appreciate many of the capabilities and limits of my gear (lens length, apeture, shutter speeds, ISO settings, noise, etc.) but struggle to overcome the limitations through effective preparation. (The gear's good enough, the user needs help!) Any advice on preparation and technique would probably be most helpful to improve my work. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Some of the gear that I use include:

Sony A-700 DSLR Camera
Lenses:
Zeiss 16-80mm lens, f 3.5-4.5 (used most often)
Sony 70-400mmG lens, f 4.5-5.6 (favorite for birds/wildlife)
Zeiss 85mm lens, f 1.4
Sony 100mm Macro lens, f 2.8
Sony 50mm Macro lens, f 2.8
HVL-F58AM Flash
HIgh Quality Tri-Pod
