Hello! I'm Rodney Harvey. I have been doing photography for over 20 years now. My first 35mm camera was a Pentax ME Super and I got interested in Infrared film in college in1992. For a few years I had a darkroom in my home. I changed to digital in 2005 kicking and screaming. My first camera was a 126 Instamatic given to me by my grandmother back in 1981. My grandparents lived on a hill top in a moble home in rural northern Missouri. Near them was the "old house", as they called it, which was vacated due to foundation problems. As a kid I was fascinated with it as well as all the other old things around. Barns, chicken coops, old cars, creeks, cellars, wells, and even the outhouse. The house though held a special place for me. It was full of so many signs of the past. It gave me visions of what it was like to live so long ago. Details like woodstoves, wallpaper, closets with mysterious photographs, drawers with old specticals, steep staircases and the list goes on. All of that early exploration must have left an impression on me. I am 43 now and still get the same excitement creeping through those places from the past as I can still get a sense of bygone eras. Even in those early years I knew that what I was seeing, even my grandparents , would succumb to times tenacity. I also knew that what ever I took pictures of could last much longer and would be apperciated in the future. These places that I photograph now, many of them will also disappear. Many of these photographs eventually might be the only ones in existence. If the buildings can't be saved, their images must. They are a glimpse into history. I got my Fuji Film IS-1 in 2008. It is one of the few pre-converted infrared cameras commercially available and it was intended for forensic use.

If anyone is intrested in purchasing prints of anything you have seen here in my photostream please send me a Flickermail or e-mail.

Also anyone that would know how I could get a book published, let me know. My photos are copywrited and may not be used without my consent.

To the people who have made me a contact. I apperciate it, but I can't tell if you just simply want to follow my work or you want to be made a contact back. If you do let me know.

Thank you,
Rodney Harvey

"My first-ever flickr testimonial...for one of my all-time favorite flickr photographers.

Rodney has an incredible talent for capturing old houses and country scenery with an unearthly eye for composition, light, and shadow. Plus, the clouds always seem to cooperate with him. I think he has them on the payroll. :)

Three of his wonderful prints grace the walls of my living room and catch the eye of everyone who comes over - much more so than any of my store-bought art.

I can't visit his photostream without clicking that "add to faves" button..."

    David Sebben says:

"Having met Rodney after viewing his wonderful photos and keen interest in history, he's just as genuine as his work on flickr. I appreciate his photography not only for the images he presents, but the background on many of them that would be lost to the ages if he didn't ask questions and dig just a little bit deeper. He has inspired me and others to take the road less traveled and to look around for the less obvious. Thank you Rodney for your tremendous efforts here."
