How many times have you thought, ‘I think I need to change my life!’, well I did just that. One day after contemplating the fluff in my navel for far too long, I finally realised I wanted to be more creative. The decision was easy, mainly prompted by a discussion I had with a work colleague. Over a couple of months he and I talked endlessly about what makes you happy, the brain or the heart, suffice to say the heart won in the end. The path was anything but easy, arguments, discussions, more arguments, you get the idea.
During the previous 15 years my Brain had taken the front seat and punished me with one soul destroying job after another. The con was on, bosses convinced my Brain that this was the life for me, they would often inform me that I had done a great job or I had saved them much dosh. Now many years after being made redundant from my last job, I have, I believe throttled the part in my Brain that thinks I.T. is fun!!
Now with my first full length novel "The Lazarus Principle" complete and published, I have started to concentrate on photography and in the process stopped chasing the shadows that former employers felt were in some way essential to my work life balance. It made me stop, listen to my heart; and through photography and writing I believe that I will eventually what I'm looking for.
I recently read on the profile of Zero239, something that I feel is more apt today than ever before. - "I'm not a photographer, I just take photos. The world in square crop is a beautiful one. The world in letterbox sometimes is too. Technicalities are overrated. Having a good lens is great, but the right attitude gets you a better photo. What they say is true, film is not dead, it just smells funky. Carry a camera at all times." - How true.
Now for the dry bit...as for my photos, prints are available for most of my images and you can also find out more about me at my website - His & Hers Photografurs
If I do not respond then please dont take it personally, the SPAM fairy probably got it, along with 100's of others each day. If you like my photographic style, I am available for commissions, just send me an email with Commission in bold caps, that will get my attention.
All my images are copyrighted. Please contact me for use of them. Please ask as I will probably allow free use for most kinds of non-profit matters. Also please be polite and let me know if you blog any of them. Most of them are a lot larger than the images you see on the screen. The majority are taken with two cameras that have a resolution of either 10 or 21 Megapixels.
Not to be too rude, but I will have the final word about what and if something is done with my images, so please be polite and send me a request. ©2005 - 2010, Robert Dowell.
