The outdoors is my life! I love being outside. For me there is nothing more satisfying than to be wandering the woods, mountains or beaches and have the sun shining down and warming my back.. Just being able to see the sights, and hear the sounds of nature provides the peace and tranquility sometimes missing from our daily lives. There are incredible colors to be seen and recorded. Simply put, I love being outside and try to spend as much time as I can hiking and taking pictures. Other than family, outdoors is my life!

I've been taking pictures for many, many years mostly recording the pictures on slides. I keep on saying that I'll go through the slides and scan them. But, as you can quess, that takes time, which I never seem to have. This is especially true since I've changed to using digital cameras.

I started out using a simple Nikon Coolpix (shared Christmas present) , then a Nikon CoolPix 995 (hand down from my Son) , and finally purchased a Nikon D80 DSR with several telephoto lens. At least 2 of my old Nikon film lens also fit the D80 which is nice.

We've lived in as many eight states, and Washington, D.C. But for the last years, we lived on Roan Mountain in North Carolina. We made the decision to walk away from corporate life early. By the way the crow flies we're about a mile from the top of the mountain on the North Carolina side. Roan Mountain is supposedly the third highest mountain east of the Mississippi. We've enjoyed every minute of living there. But we now spend most of our time in N. E. Florida close by the kids and grandchildren. This is our second time in Florida. having lived in Jacksonville and Orlando.
