Most of my pics* here on flickr are governed by the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike licence.

I've chosen the "Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike" licence in order to allow the operators of personal web sites and blogs, non-commercial organisations, charities, NGOs, etc. to share and reuse/remix the images it governs.

My default licence used to allow commercial as well as non-commercial re-use, but in the light of the growing attacks on fair use and on digital freedoms by many rights-holding businesses, I've decided not to allow commercial use as a default condition. I've no desire to be part of a free media library for commercial organisations who attack the open nature of the Internet and use their money and influence to lobby our political representatives to restrict digital freedoms and rights.

Of course, many commercial organisations do not lobby to reduce digital rights and possess a 21st Century attitude towards copyright and fair use. If you are one of these and see an image of mine you'd like to use, then send me a message, I'll probably be happy to waive my non-commercial use restriction.

*Please note that my pictures of family and friends, particularly those taken within private homes and spaces, at private events, etc. will not generally be available for others to re-use. If the individuals in question wish to make any such images available to others, I'm sure they will do so using their own photo-sharing service.
