The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children is Australia's major independent special educator, providing a wide range of educational services to children who have a significant hearing and/or vision impairment, including children who have additional disabilities.

Through education RIDBC seeks to close the gap between the life experiences of children with hearing or vision impairment, and those without.

In affiliation with the University of Newcastle, RIDBC conducts a centre for research and professional development in the education of children with impaired hearing or vision.

RIDBC is one of Australia's major charitable organisations and celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2010.
