Police expert Dr. Richard B. Weinblatt, The Cop Doc, is a certified police instructor and established criminal justice writer who has been interviewed by national and local print, radio, television and Internet media on law enforcement topics since 1989.

A former police chief, Dr. Weinblatt served as Director of the Institute for Public Safety (over Criminal Justice, the Basic Police Academies, Fire Science, etc.) for Central Ohio Technical College located East of Columbus in Newark, OH. He also served as professor and program manager for the Criminal Justice Institute at Seminole Community College in Sanford, FL, (located just North of Orlando).

Dr. Weinblatt has worked in several regions of the country in reserve and full-time sworn positions ranging from auxiliary police lieutenant in New Jersey to patrol division deputy sheriff in New Mexico to police chief in North Carolina.

Dr. Weinblatt has written extensively on law enforcement topics since 1989. He had a regular column in Law and Order Magazine for a decade and he has also written for
Police, Sheriff, American Police Beat, Narc Officer, PoliceOne.com, PoliceLink.com, and Officer.com, as well as others.

Florida Criminal Justice Standards Instructor certified in general law enforcement topics, defensive tactics, firearms, and vehicle operations, Dr. Weinblatt also holds instructor certifications for Taser, pepper spray, and expandable baton. He holds the Certified Law Enforcement Trainer (CLET) designation from the American Society for Law Enforcement Training (ASLET).

Dr. Weinblatt earned a Bachelors degree in Administration of Justice, a Master of Public Administration in Criminal Justice, an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership.
