Photography offers a motive to explore and appreciate the world around me from a unique and exciting perspective. I enjoy the adventure of discovery, sense of reverence, and innate peace I experience photographing scenic beauty and natural wonder. I'm thankful to witness and share a few brief moments as well as experience many, many more through the eyes of my Flickr® comrades.

"Richard Thompson is easily at the top of my list of favorite photographers. Whenever I introduce someone to Flickr, I use Richard's photostream as an example of the quality to be found there. I also covet his field equipment..."

"Richard's creations are pure, clean and very appealing. His images whether simple or fascinating, are the result of very careful craftsmanship. His light is perfect and his composition rival's his light.
Although I haven't had the pleasure of meeting him yet, I know somehow that he is a noble soul, as it transpires through his images.
I look up to his vision of the world and his ability to master the art of seeing.
Thank you Richard, for sharing both your work and your friendship.

"Wow!!! That about sums it up for me. I saw Richard's work on the singh-ray blog and had to check out his website [very nice] then I searched him out on flickr. Now he is one of my favorite photographers, right up there with Marc Adamus."

"It is'nt easy to write a testimony for a person that I know only by his photography. The quality of Richard's gallery shows well its mastery of nature photography and it, in many domains. I am a fan of his work which for me is a reference, a source of inspiration and motivation.

"He is one of the best landscape photographers around! Ok, i have to admit that all the other things he shots are great, too! But especially his Michigan landscapes and farming houses are great works, taking me to another "world". Most of his pictures let me forget time while watching and exploring his view of the scenery. Keep on the good work!"

"There are many talented photographers on Flickr who do wonderful work. However, Richard is in a class by himself. He has a unique talent for composing shots that depict ever last shred of beauty in scene: from the colors in the sky, to the architectural details of a lighthouse, to the polished stones at the water line, Richard captures them all in a single image. I've learned a lot by studying his work and am happy to call him a Flickr friend."

"HES is a superb photographer with a magnificent gallery of images. He captures it all well, . All of them receive the "magic touch" through the lens of His camera and transform into works of art. Hes not only a great photographer, but also one of the kindest, most generous people I have met on Flickr. Thank you, for the joy of your photos!"

"When I first came across Richard he was in the middle of his series of Oakland County Lakes photographs. I thought of him as "lake guy", in fact THE "lake guy". Since then he has worked with snow, trees, swords and tape measures. It's all good.
This guy has it all - imagination, patience, vision, daring, diligence and modesty. His images please the eye, warm the heart and fire the imagination.
Not only is he a fine artist but he is also a nice guy who takes the time to comment on the work of others.
Thank you, Richard, for your inspiration and encouragement."

Ledio (mostly away) says:
"I don't remember how I first saw Richard's shots - but I'm sure glad I did! Many people find his photos inspirational. However, when I look at them, it makes me give up taking photos - that's how great his photos are. The only issue/dilema that I have is: how to resist the urge to make all of his photos a favorite!
If I were a gallery owner, I'd run, not walk, and beg Richard to be his exclusive dealer. In my opinion, his work is much better than many other "pros" out there.
Richard, thank you for having such a great eye and for bringing your photos to Flickr so all of us can enjoy them!"

"It is with the greatest respect and admiration for Richard's work that I write this brief testimonial:
His photostream is truly delightful, beautiful, sublime and quite often inexpressible. It is impossible to not be drawn deeply into his land-seascape images - as if you were there yourself - experiencing the moment of joy and serenity with him!
Take your time and enjoy the many views and vistas presented by this very talented artist and photographer.
Thanks very much, Richard, for your inspiration and friendship!"

Erick Loitiere says:
"As a beginner, I often browse flickr shots to learn or to
get some shoot ideas. I see wonderful shots and I'm a fan
of great photographers such as LeighTaylor, johannes
asgeir, jwlphotography, V. Mason and thinkingpicture. But
Richard's pictures just invite me without voice. I like the
color, the lights, and the sharp sensation of his pictures.
Every element of a picture seems to be wanted by him like
an art director, and he is kind enough to reply, share
ideas and techniques. So, congratulation for your great
work and thank you for your kindness."

"Every so often you will stumble upon something unexpected... a twenty folded up in a shirt pocket... A smile from a beautiful passerby... An Everyday experience.
When I view Richards' work I see so much of how I visualize the world. Serene. Peaceful. Beauty in repetition as it occurs everyday. Captured so perfect. Rich is awake with an idea and an execution before we have hit snooze. He captures scenery that allows us the grace and blessings to feel as if we were there with him. I smile every time his work comes across my flickr page. I know the work will be exceptionally planned, executed and of course enjoyed."

"Podría decir que es una de las personas que mejor sabe captar los atardeceres.
Los tonos, los colores, la composición y el encuadre que dá a sus fotos hacen de ellas un espectáculo visual, es como estar dentro de la escena, se puede sentir el frescor y el olor en las imágenes.
Entrar a su galeria es una visita obligada para todos los que disfrutamos de los atardeceres.
Desde aquí te animo que nos sigas ofreciendo la belleza de la caida del sol.

"Flickr fate was smiling when it put me in the path of Richard Thompson, and it honors me to write this testimonial to his stunning work. It is a great fortune and pleasure to be able to view the way he cultivates his sensitivity to beauty through the lens. All one has to do is look, to be struck by the enduring skill and craft in his photographs.
Richard is a modest man - he’ll tell you all the ways in which he did not create the scenes you are seeing, and strictly speaking, he’s right; Richard’s art lies not in creating the sky and the lake, but in creating the illusion that you are part of the scene.
His vision is what we see, and each photograph is a singular experience, a beautiful moment, eternally unfolding."
