I'm a video game designer from Newent in the U.K. I've lived in California since 1995.
I work as a Visiting Associate Professor in the Interactive Media Division of the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. I teach game design to both graduates and undergraduates, and am beginning work on a series of experimental games as part of a research project.
I'm thrilled to be moving into this role, and I'm looking forward to helping a new generation of game designers embrace the craft of game making, while also taking my own design practice in some new directions.
Between 2004 and 2012 I was a game designer at Naughty Dog, creators of the Uncharted, Jak and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot series. I was Lead or Co-Lead Game Design on all three games in the Uncharted series, and it was an honor to be a part of the creation of such a form-advancing sequence of storytelling action games.
I had an amazing time at Naughty Dog, which is an extraordinary place of hard work, great results and wonderful people. I'd previously worked for MicroProse and Crystal Dynamics. You can see a list of the games I've worked on over at Mobygames.
