Rhode Island Center for the Book was established in 2003, and is an affiliate of the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

Rhode Island Center for the Book was created to celebrate reading, writing, making and sharing books across Rhode island. The organization is a cooperative effort of many Rhode Island readers, writers, publishers, librarians, educators and book artists.
