I live in Bear, Delaware and have recently began seriously shooting in October of 2008. I shoot with my Canon Rebel XSi and primarily prefer landscapes in HDR as well as natural portrait photography. I enjoy post production almost as much as the photography itself -- I use Adobe Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS4 as my primary tools along with a Wacom tablet for a more efficient workflow.

My Equipment

Canon 580EX II Speedlight Flash.
Manfrotto 488RC2 Ball Head.
Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod.

Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 USM IS Telephoto.
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 Wide-angle.
Canon 50mm f/1.8 Portrait.
Canon 60mm f/2.8 Macro.

All of that equipment, along with my laptop, I carry in a Lowepro Slingshot 350 AW (huge, but it's the best bag ever!)

Being new to photography, I learned everything I know from reading -- some resources I recommend:

1) The Digital Photography Book, by Scott Kelby. A great, "plain language" book on how to shoot various subjects.

2) Understanding Exposure, by Brian Peterson. This is great for understanding the elements of exposure: aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Additionally it also goes into composition.

3) Magic Lantern DVD: Great Photos with your Digital SLR. I learn better by instruction than reading -- perhaps due to the interactive nature of the lesson, so this great DVD goes over general photography concepts and explains them in very simple language.

4) Magic Lantern DVD for your Camera Model: Magic Lantern also puts out several DVD's geared towards specific models of cameras -- they go over each dial, knob and setting and explain what they do... PERFECT if you moving up from a point and shoot and have no idea what your camera can do.

5) HDR Tutorial from StuckInCustoms. The concept is easy and, with the right software and equipment, so is the execution -- I'm living proof!
