I have now been on flickr for a year and it has been a lot of fun. It is addicting and sometimes I have had to step back and take a break because it can take over your life. I have had to intentionally cut back and limit my contacts...which means I miss a lot of the great stuff that gets posted. I regret that part of it.

I have only been taking pictures for a little over a year and mostly shoot creepy, crawly, fluttery, flyee things...not many structures and virtually no people. My favorite is butterflies. I have a long way to go, but I am learning...and mostly from my interaction with the friends I have made here on flickr.

Some people derive their enjoyment in life from their work. I work so that I can enjoy other things in life. I am an optometrist, and while I do like what I do, I do it as a means rather than an end.

I live in North Central Texas and take most of my photos near my home.

    Daisy Mai-ling says:

"If you haven't visited Rhizoo's site before, then you have really been missing something. You sense his true love of Nature in each photograph, as well as being beautiful in their own right. But it's not just the beauty of the captures that will keep you coming back. It is the light-hearted humor he uses to tell the stories behind each shot, his gentle spirit that always shines through in his work....and the fact that he takes the time to thank you personally for your visits and comments.

Thanks, my friend, for all the beauty and joy you bring to us all."

"Rhizoo... I have no idea what the name means, but the man is a great guy. I've known him only through Flickr, but he is the first one to hop online and check out my recently posted pics, and he genuinely comments on them while being subtle about it. If a person like this can be open, honest and friendly over a couple of week over the internet, imagine how great they would be if you were a friend in person. Here's to you, Phil... great pictures.
    God Bless.
