    ElvertBarnes says:

"I would first admire the work of rev_bri when I'd see protest images taken by Brian Long at DC Indymedia. And though I would contribute to dc.indymedia as well as more than a year would pass before I would actually meet Brian Long. Once introudced we both would remark that we had been admiring each others work, for a while, but had no face to connect with the images.

Many photographers have a certain style, or a particular focus or theme that when you see their work you know that it's theirs. I would come to know, love and respect the protest photography of reb_bri long before I would have the pleasure of seeing his erotic and studio work.

In recent months, via flickr, I've had the chance to see Brian Long in a much different light than just as a protest photographer. And journalist.

When I would first meet Brian at a dc.indymedia meeting he and his wife had just had a baby girl. Though I had always noticed him, as a photo journalist before, I did not know who he was. But something about him I like.

Shortly afterwards, mostly at protests, I would often run into him, his wife and child ... taking pictures. Recently on flickr I've had the opportunity to view more of his body of work.

The man has an eye that will draw you. He has a spirit to match. Both are reflective in his photojournalism.

As well as in his studio photography.

Years later, I have not doubt, that Brian Long's body of work will be regarded as an important documentation of our times. And I have no doubt that Brian Long will soon become a sought after fashion photographer.

He has the eye and a spirit ... that draws you in!"

"I'm going to reciprocate on the long-lost Friendster testimonial here, by telling the same story. When I first "met" Brian, it was by answering a phone call in a (to me) strange place at 2am. He was on the other end, in the occupied Palestinian territories. Not until he returned and I saw his video and photos did I fully understand where he was and what he was doing. You can see some of that in his photostream."
