With my photography I seek to portray the beauty of nature and the nature of beauty. These last couple of years it has become more of an art form for me, particularly using textures with a photo which either enhance or transform the photograph in some way. I am drawn to others' photos which move me. They tend to be dark, imbued with melancholy, a sense of the surreal and desaturated in tone. I also very much like retro style images - their aesthetic and sense of nostalgia.

I have found Flickr to be a huge source of inspiration and love browsing others' photostreams. Just wish I had more time for it! What has struck me most about Flickr in the last year is that, although virtual, it is quite a wonderful, supportive community and I cherish the friends I have made and met along the way.

Why is it that one person can take an image of a flower and its life and beauty almost seem to disappear, it's vibrancy and reason for being yanked away and what is left in its place a pale facsimile. Whereas another can inject an image with ideas and visions of the flower that the flower itself never imagined! Jo is of course the latter! Her stream is joy to behold. Jo seems to see relationships and dynamics, she communicates stories and narratives and takes us on a journey. So all in all quite heady stuff! Jo also has a wicked sense of humour and sense of play.
