Hi Folks,

I have had an ongoing interest in photography for many years which has recently taken on a new direction with the purchase of a campervan. This allows me to concentrate on wildlife and landscape as subjects. I used a Konica Minolta Z5 up until 2008 and moved to the Panasonic FZ18. I have shied away from SLR plus lenses as my wife and I do a lot of walking and cycling and I need a camera that is easily carried .

My camera is like another person with whom I carry on a dialogue that prompts me to stop and look at the world around me. When I leave the camera at home I don't see or observe half as much. I am drawn to symmetry and balance and constantly look for it in often jumbled chaotic scenes. I am very sensitive to the way sunlight affects my own moods and having a camera has helped me to externalise this to see the way light and shadow changes a scenes mood and atmosphere. I think Ireland is a beautiful

country helped to a great degree by clouds. I have been to sun kissed spots around the world and think there is nothing more boring to photograph than a blue sky. A lot of my photographs are probably predictable and twee to a lot of people but I make no apology for this . Scenes attract me and I take a photograph. It's as simple as that. Urban decay isn't really my thing.

PS to any old friends paying a visit. I still have all my own teeth and have acquired a liking for parsnips.
