Reflected Spectrum's photostream

Hello, and thanks for looking! I'm Laura Poland, a photographer in Indianapolis, IN. People often ask me when I first became interested in photography. The answer is, it's been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember. My interest exploded into a passion (bordering on an obsession) when I took my first photography class in high school. After that, I started reading all the library books I could find on photography and trying to expand my skills to make better photographs. I took another class in college where I learned how to process my own photographs in a darkroom, and soon after that I shot my first wedding. Over the next few years I continued to shoot weddings and senior portraits occasionally for friends and friends-of-friends. Then about a year ago ago I had one of those existentialist-style soul-searching evenings, trying to decide what I really wanted my life to be. I came out on the other side knowing that I wanted to be a photographer. Shortly after, I set up a web site and formed my company, Reflected Spectrum Photography. One thing I can say is it's been an amazing year. It hasn't been easy, I continue to work full time at my software development job, but I've done lots of weddings and portrait sessions and have met so many amazing people. I am ecstatic and grateful for every opportunity. I feel I have improved my skills tremendously this year, but I am still not (and probably will never be) satisfied to rest at my current level. I am always looking to learn new techniques and new ways to improve my photographs. I love to hear feedback on my work, constructive criticism being the most valuable, so please have a look at my photographs and leave whatever comments you feel appropriate. Know that every one will be carefully read and taken to heart.

**Special note to photographers in the Indianapolis area: If you are ever in need of an assistant, I would love to have the opportunity to learn from you. I have assisted several photographers in the area, and I usually assist at least once for free just for the experience on the condition that I can use the photos I take in my own portfolio.
